FAQs

How does machinery rental work?

Is there a minimum or maximum number of rental days?

No. You can rent a machine from 1 day. At Manain, we offer short-term contracts from 1 day to weeks, and medium to long-term contracts from months to even renting for several years.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

In any machinery rental service it is obligatory to leave a deposit that will be returned once the machinery is returned and Manain technicians verify its condition.

Consult with our Sales Department about the possibility of opening an account with us so that you do not have to leave a deposit on your rentals.

What safety and prevention measures are applied?

What does the Civil Liability insurance for machinery cover?

Machinery insurance covers any damage caused by a malfunction of the machine itself.

The renter will be responsible for any damage caused by improper use or operation of the machinery. Example: if during the handling of the machine it collides with another vehicle, building, etc.

In the event of theft, what should I do?

You must immediately file a complaint and inform Manain about what happened. Specifying the place, date and time of the incident.

What training is required to operate platforms?

Is there any specific type of training for the operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs)?

Yes. The Spanish Association of Aerial Work Platform Rental Companies (ANAPAT), of which Manain is a member, has a safety and operating instruction manual for MEWPs. This manual is provided with each of our aerial work platform equipment rental contracts so that the operator is aware of the instructions for proper use.

Is any type of permit required to operate an MEWP?

The legal provisions must be known and complied with depending on the work area. Therefore, it will be the client's responsibility to obtain the corresponding permits and certificates at a national, regional or municipal level.

It is the operator's responsibility to comply with the regulations and legislation on working at height, which is governed by knowledge of the specific regulations for MEWPs (UNE-EN-280), the safe use of MEWPs (UNE-58921_IN), and safety regulations on the prevention of occupational hazards in MEWPs, under the UNE 58923 and ISO 18878 regulations.

In addition, it is recommended that the client consult the safety and operation instruction manual prepared by Anapat - the Spanish Association of Aerial Work Platform Rental Companies - and which is given to the operator along with each aerial work platform rental contract.

What training is required to drive forklifts or other machinery?

Is there any specific training for operating forklifts?

To operate forklifts, it is necessary to obtain a forklift operator's licence. It is also recommended that the client consult the operator's manual prepared by AECE  -the Association of Forklift Companies- with basic safety recommendations. This manual is given to the operator together with each forklift contract.

What traffic and usage regulations should I take into account?

Can I drive on public roads with a machine?

You can only drive freely with machines that are registered. At Manain, we have different registered machines, such as forklifts, dumpers, bucket lorries or aerial work platforms.

What are the 5 steps of the work protocol?

  1. Visual inspection of the machine. Verifying that the machine is suitable for the work to be carried out.
  2. Function testing. Verifying the operation and safety functions detailed in the ANAPAT or AECE book.
  3. Inspection of the workplace. Checking the environment to detect possible hazards.
  4. Operating correctly. Carrying out the assigned work safely and effectively.
  5. Parking the machine. Make sure that the machine is in the collection position and parked in a safe place.

How and where do I park the machine once the rental has ended?

You must park the machine in a safe place and, if possible, in an elevated position to prevent anyone from getting onto it. You must remove the keys and keep them in a safe place.

If the machine is parked on a public road, it is the client's obligation to have permission and to properly signpost the area. The renter must provide MANAIN with access to pick up the machine, and ensure that they have informed MANAIN of its removal in sufficient time to organise its transport.

What does the rental contract establish?

What type of documentation is necessary to rent the machine?

To formalise the contract, it is necessary to complete the client form with the billing information, sign on the dotted line with the agreed conditions and make the payment for the rental and the deposit - As long as a different payment method has not been agreed.

What standard concepts can I find in a machinery rental contract?

In each contract you should find the following concepts detailed:

  • Price of the machine per working day of rental.
  • Price of the civil liability insurance of the machine per calendar day of rental. This is a percentage of 14% of the contract total.
  • Price of the traffic insurance in the case of registered machines. This is a percentage of 16% of the contract total.
  • Waste management fee. This is a fixed amount per contract.
  • Fee for electrical machinery, in the case of use of this type of machinery. This is a fixed amount per contract.
  • Price of delivery and collection, in the event that the transport is not carried out by the client.

What are the conditions of delivery and collection of the machine?

Is the machinery transport service necessary?

The delivery and collection conditions of the machinery are established prior to the signing of the contract. This service is detailed separately from the rental rate of the machine and can be carried out by Manain or the client by their own means. In the event that the transport is carried out by Manain, the different rates for transporting machinery must be taken into account depending on the area, distance and dimensions of the machinery.

If the renter manages the transport of the rented machinery on his/her own, he/she must have contracted civil liability insurance to cover possible damages.

Where will the machine be delivered to me?

The carrier will deliver and collect the machine at an accessible place, but it will be the renter's responsibility to place it in the precise work place. The exact place and time of unloading of the machine will be confirmed hours before delivery and it will be collected at the same agreed place.

In the event of waiting times or incidents related to loading and unloading that are beyond Manain's control, extra transport costs may be generated.

How do you manage the collection of the machine?

It is the renter's obligation to notify us in writing when the work has finished and we can go to collect the machine. No machine will be collected by default unless we receive notification. The full rental day will be invoiced if the notice of withdrawal is given after 10:00 am. Manain must have a margin of time to be able to manage the collection transport. During this period of time between the notification of the collection and the completion thereof, it will be the responsibility of the renter to safeguard the machine.

What type of assistance is included

Is there any type of technical assistance?

Throughout the duration of the rental contract, the client has access to a technical assistance service from Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 18 pm and Fridays from 8am to 5.30 pm. This includes repairs resulting from a malfunction of the machine.

What obligations do I have as a renter?

How should I return the machine?

It is your obligation to return the machine in the same condition as it was delivered to you. You must notify us if you have any technical incident during the rental.

Do I have to perform maintenance on the machinery?

In addition to the preventive and corrective maintenance that we carry out at Manain, it is the rental company's obligation to carry out the following weekly maintenance:

  • In diesel machinery, the fluid levels must be checked: oil, antifreeze and brakes.
  • In electric machinery, the condition of the batteries must be checked daily to avoid reaching the minimum discharge.
  • In diesel machinery, the air filters must be checked, and if they are contaminated, Manain's technical service must be notified.
